Creeping into winter the thermometer is starting to drop but so far we could not have asked for better weather at Auskick as the wind has been minimal so far. Great to see so many kids out on the field each week having a great time and all willing to participate. Terrific effort from the parents so far with 100 plus kids each week, not always easy to get up early on a cold Saturday morning but I think you would all agree worth the effort once you are there.
Once again special thanks to the local companies which have provided money and services for this year. Without their generous support Auskick centres would be unable to operate so please support these companies wherever possible as continued support is what we would like to achieve.
I would like to thank the Wyndham City Council for their prompt response in fixing the car park as I requested.
Alamanda oval has just had turf laid and the site looks great. As next season gets closer council will advertise expressions of interest for the ground. We will be campaigning hard to have access to this site for Saturday mornings to have Point Cook Auskick back where it belongs in Point Cook!
I will keep every one updated as I receive information.
Great to hear all the positive feed back from the AFL grid games. Pat on the back to the coaches and helpers involved as the feed back from their representation has been A1. The grid game experience is an experience that young children keep with them for a lifetime.
We have had word from the AFL that they are clamping down on the age groups for AFL grid games. For all future games we will need to stick to the AFL guidlines which will mean that grade 3 and 4 are able to participate in the grid games, (these are set around the edge of the ground) and 4, 5 and 6 can participate in the little league (which is in team colours in the middle).

Match Day report Preps - Donna Morgan
Well the weather made for another wonderful day at Auskick. The Prep Children enjoyed a day of ‘going back to basics’ with kicking to an open field, handballing to each other & the must loved Grid Game. We also added a more complicated drill which bought out the skill levels and concentration in all our future champions – this one involved picking up a rolling ball, handballing, marking, weaving & bouncing!! All children handled this drill extremely well with the input of communication & calling out to the next person in line. Sportsmanship is starting to surface in our sessions, with the children shaking hands with their opponents and team mates at the end of the Grid Games, fantastic to see everyone working so well together.
In the coming weeks we will be introducing tackling techniques, banana kicking & more defensive type techniques. We will also be running the sessions a little overtime to incorporate an extra ‘whole group’ Grid Game at the end of the day. Keep up the excellent work kids, coaches & parents – we have many more exciting sessions ahead.
This weeks achievement award went to Joel for continuous effort & improvement. Well done Joel.

Match Day report Preps - Donna Morgan
The preps had a great session this week, with a few new skills & techniques being introduced. These included dribbling (tapping) the ball along the ground, commando rolls & defensive work. The children really enjoyed the defensive drills & trying to keep the ball away from the coaches. At the end of the day I saw a lot of children with dirty knees & big smiles on their faces, this can only mean football had been played and fun was had by all. In the coming weeks the preps will continue to focus on the core skills of kicking, handballing & marking with the inclusion of more ball handling techniques & even some basic tackling techniques on the tackle bag. All the prep children are improving every week & having a lot of fun doing so – I see many mini footy champions running around Lawrie Edminns Reserve every Saturday morning! Thank you to all the Prep Coaches, Parents & Children – keep up the great work. And kids – keep practising – at home, school & with friends.
This weeks Player of the Week Award went to Ethan – for his continual hard work, effort & persistence with all of the footy skills. Congratulations Ethan!!

Match Day Report - Grades 3-6 Luke Roolker Match Day report Preps - Donna Morgan Another Icy morning at Auskick! The preps enjoyed an action packed day, starting with their favourite warm up game……Dodgeball. Then they jumped into some energetic and fun packed drills. This week we re-run the circuit drill from last week. The children really love this one & it puts so many aspects of the game together in one fast moving drill….rolling pick up, handballing, marking, dodging in pressure situation & bouncing. The smiling and laughing whilst being chased by a coach the dodging section of the drill is priceless! Heaps of fun had by all the children. The preps had the tackle bag out again the week & their tackling technique and ability to ‘floor’ the dummy is brilliant. This week the children were to track down the stray ball after the tackle & run on to kick a goal. Lots of muddy children came out of this drill. Muddy, wet, rainy football…..the best fun around. (Sorry parents) A twist was put on the handball drill, with the introduction of the ‘Target’. We had many bullseyes on the board & the children enjoyed the new challenge. The grid game as usual was a blast. Again we extended the session out the extra 30 minutes and ran a large grid game. A few more children stayed behind and joined in the game. The skills & development of the prep children is really showing. The most important aspect I have seen coming across from these prep children is ‘Team Spirit’. I was so proud of all the children when I seen them huddling up in their teams, high fiving, patting their team mate on the back when they scored a goal, encouraging each other & shaking hands with the other team at the conclusion of the game. This is a critical aspect of any sport & life in general. I must admit it nearly bought a tear to my eye watching them & knowing that ‘Point Cook Auskick’ and the ‘Prep Coaching Team’ have taught these children to respect their team mates & the game. Thank you so much to all the helpers!!!!! The Achievement Award this week went to Braydon The Champion Award this week went to Jack Well done champs, keep up the hard work! Match Day report Grades 1 - 2 Dean Longmuir The Grade 1's and 2's had another good week with the focus being on handball. Match Day Report - Grades 3-6 Luke Roolker a grid game that was made up of kids with Bulldogs jumpers version all the other teams.
This week saw a return to basic skills, with the grades 3-6 AusKickers working on the proper techniques for Kicking a drop punt to a target, and Handballing to hit a target. There was great improvement in both areas throughout the morning. We will look to further develop these most important skills as we move forward through the season.
We also ran a Beep test. Two AusKickers got to 8.7 and a coach got to 7.5 - Excellent effort!
We finished the session with

With the rain on Friday and a sunny but cool morning we had less kids than normal but the enthusiasm and skills were up which was pleasing.
We had two birthdays Saturday with both Bowen and Mikayla both celebrating their 7th birthday's, we all hope you had a great day.
The Grid Games were fantastic with the skills, teamwork and chat on the ground continuing to improve, the kids are really getting a good understanding of keeping position and how to play a good game.
The Redgum pizza encouragement award went to Mikayla this week for her enthusiasm and continued improvement from week to week, so congratulations and keep up the good work.
It seemed that everyone involve in the morning had a great time.
Remember to keep practising at home or in the school yard during the week.
See you all next Saturday.
